Kulfi, Masala Chai and Mango Chilli: Why Indian Flavours Belong in Chocolate
Why Indian flavours like kulfi, masala chai, mango chilli and coconut are winning over chocolate lovers, and how they shine in handmade filled chocolates.

Some flavours carry memories. The smell of cardamom in a pan of chai. Saffron threads blooming in milk. A mango eaten on a summer afternoon with a pinch of chilli. Put them in chocolate and something wonderful happens: the familiar becomes special.
A trend with deep roots
India’s craft chocolate makers have been experimenting with desi flavours, from masala chai and filter coffee to saffron and gulkand. Chocolatiers say these familiar flavours draw in first-time buyers and keep them coming back (The Federal, July 2026). The same report notes artisanal chocolate as the fastest-growing part of India’s chocolate market.
Our Indian Twist collection
Our catalogue calls it “familiar taste that can’t be left out”, and it is the collection our gifting boxes are built around during festivals:
- Kulfi: heavy notes of cardamom and saffron, combined with white chocolate ganache.
- Masala Chai Caramel Ganache: cardamom, ginger and star anise, turned into caramel.
- Mango Chilli: the rich sweetness of mango, paired with chilli.
- Nakel Naru: coconut caramel and coconut ganache.
How to pair them
Indian flavours are generous and aromatic, so they love a creamy Milk 36% shell. For contrast, try Mango Chilli in Dark 60%, where the cocoa amplifies the chilli’s warmth.
In a box of 8, combine two Indian Twist flavours with one classic and one nut special, for example Kulfi, Masala Chai Caramel Ganache, Salted Coffee Caramel Ganache and Dubai Chocolate.
Made for celebrations
These are the flavours we reach for at Diwali, weddings, Rakhi and every family gathering. Read our Diwali gifting guide and our wedding favours guide for ideas, or go straight to the Box Studio.
